bitforms gallery presents Unpredictable Forms of Sound and Motion, featuring Tim Knowles and Pe Lang + Zimoun. The exhibition engages creative contemporary perspectives on automated systems, performance, and sculpture. This marks the U.S. premiere of Tim Knowles' Walk series and the New York debut of Pe Lang + Zimoun. Tim Knowles employs cameras and drawing to reveal concealed motion in natural materials. His Nightwalk-Valley of Rocks comprises illuminated walks created during a new moon in Devon, producing long-exposure photographs where a pathway of ghostly travelers shines inside an electrified landscape. The Windwalk-5 walks from Charing Cross follows performances guided solely by wind, using a helmet-mounted wind vane and GPS tracking in early morning London hours. Pe Lang + Zimoun create sculptures incorporating mechanical systems and industrial objects. Their Untitled Sound Objects series transforms constructed acoustic and electrical noises into reverberating ambient hums that resemble natural systems, with wall-mounted motors and vibration components generating sounds resembling water, rain, and wind.
