bitforms gallery is pleased to announce Small Data, a second solo exhibition in New York with Daniel Canogar. Featuring the premiere of a new series, the exhibit includes nine video projection-mapped objects that are intimate in scale. Canogar takes an archaeological approach to discarded electronics. Works comprise overhead projections and salvaged devices including crushed computers, scanners, printers, old cell phones, and hard discs sourced from junkyards and recycling centers. Objects are organized on shelves as contemporary still lifes, with video projections creating layered and painterly abstract narratives. The works examine humanity's relationship with consumer electronics, presenting them as mementos of a time when they had fully functional lives and served us well.
