bitforms gallery presents its second solo show with Daniel Rozin, featuring his latest explorations using the mirror, accompanied by a 20-page color catalog. The exhibition later traveled to bitforms gallery Seoul in January 2006. Rozin has spent a decade-plus creating interactive sculptures from a wide range of materials including shiny chrome spheres, flat wood panels, computer software, and city trash. The centerpiece, Circles Mirror, is a black and white kinetic collage of more than 800 laminated prints with motion-sensitive patterns creating grey gradients reminiscent of 1960s Op Art, utilizing software that processes video signals and breaks up imagery geometrically. The Time series comprises four software mirrors — Time Scan, Time Ripples, Hourglass, and Shaking Time — each employing different algorithms that fuse visuals of the immediate past with actions from the present, exploring how experience affects perception. Self-Centered Mirror features a ten-foot arrangement of 34 vertical mirrored panes, which physically illustrates the narcissistic gaze. Trash Mirror was featured in the gallery's inaugural Seoul exhibition opening.
