bitforms gallery presents Microcosmos, the inaugural New York solo show by Bigas Luna. The project originated from "Cares de l'anima (faces of the soul)," comprising small-scale works employing drawing, collage, and watercolour techniques to explore different manifestations of the human soul. The Microcosmos concept involved extracting individual fragments from face compositions to generate autonomous artworks with new meanings. Through an interactive website at microcosmos.bigasluna.com, visitors could select specific sections of over 25 original face drawings, functioning as co-creators. The digital interface enabled real-time visualization of chosen fragments in varied contexts. Selected fragments could be purchased as limited prints, with the original drawing provided to collectors.
