bitforms gallery presents Harvest, its second solo exhibition with New York artist James Paterson. Over the past decade, Paterson has compiled a vast artistic diary through painting, drawing, and software works emerging from his daily experience. The exhibition features The Rotten Fruit Tardis, an animated interactive software work with nested worlds projected on the wall; 5000 Drawings, an interactive virtual sketchbook built from the first 5000 drawings of Paterson's diary since 2000; graphite wall drawings created with his Objectivity Engine software; ink drawings on paper using similar algorithmic processes; and twelve collaborative paintings with artist Jeremy Felker. Paterson's work explores themes of digestion, sex, self-critique, and skateboarding through a distinctive blend of analog and digital processes.
