bitforms gallery presents every day the same again, Addie Wagenknecht's third solo exhibition at bitforms. The exhibition features work that repurposes systems with an ethos of hacker culture, using materials like cosmetics, surveillance devices, Roombas, and pharmaceuticals to explore the tension between artistic expression and programmed device function. Wagenknecht examines visibility and identity through the lens of the COVID-19 pandemic, positioning inquiry into America from both foreign and citizen perspectives. Works include American Flag 1–3, pedestals with archival paper where ink drips from IV tubes creating abstracted flag imagery referencing Jasper Johns' Three Flags (1958), and Believe Me 1.2–1.6, a video series using American flag imagery with sections that flicker and rearrange on fractured smartphone screen effects, minted as NFTs for blockchain certification.
