Jonathan Monaghan's inaugural New York City solo show features surreal and psychologically driven works blending real, imagined, and virtual domains. The centerpiece is a 20-minute looped HD video installation depicting a golden stag journeying through modernist spaces — luxurious bedrooms, airport checkpoints, and boutiques. The work draws from hunting mythologies and concludes with the fawn emerging from a designer sofa into a celestial duty-free shop, suggesting an apocalyptic decadent future — one that is militarized, totalitarian and permeated by extravagance.
