Rafael Lozano-Hemmer's sixth solo exhibition at bitforms gallery features an immersive light installation, a 3D printed aluminum sculpture, and three data-driven screen-based works. The exhibition explores how confirmation bias — the tendency to interpret information in ways that confirm preexisting beliefs — shapes human perception in art and the visitor experience. Works include Semioptics for Spinoza, a suspended plano-convex lens generating artificial lens flares; Volute 1, Au clair de la lune, a 3D-printed aluminum speech bubble materializing breath through laser tomography; and interactive screen-based pieces that use AI computer vision, fluid dynamics, and real-time tracking to create unique perceptual experiences for each viewer.
