In her second solo exhibition at bitforms gallery, Addie Wagenknecht presents paintings in International Klein Blue pigment that explore gendered labor, power structures, and technology. The title, borrowed from Sherry Turkle's investigation of technology and society, frames a body of work in which Wagenknecht modified Roombas to paint on canvas while she reclined nude upon each piece, creating void forms surrounded by robot brushstrokes. In contrast to Yves Klein's Anthropométries — where the artist directed models as "living paintbrushes" — Wagenknecht emphasizes absence rather than spectacle, embedding the domestic automation of the Roomba into her feminist reframing of art historical gesture.
