A series of oil paintings by Claudia Hart inspired by Niccolò Machiavelli's Renaissance treatise The Prince, long considered the first book of political philosophy. Hart created "a special Machiavelli 'for kids'" as an ironic concept during her time at the Realismus Studio, Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst, Berlin, in 1995. She produced accompanying text and 31 small oil paintings within weeks. The project grew unexpectedly and was released across 3 languages in multiple editions. The 1998 Penguin edition was later redesigned and republished by Beatrice Books in 2019.
